Set fire to the fire

They say that once more nature has shown its fury.
The infernal heat for two or three days, the drought and the unceasing wind in San Luis were factors that aggravated the problem. Nevertheless, in this case nature has been damaged and, once more, by human carelesness.
How many times we don not consider our actions as harmful whenever we lit a cigarette or when we build campfires. We do not take into account that although nature is not property of anyone, it is in fact everybody's duty and obligation to preserve it.
This wildfire in our province has affected not only nature by many people's lives. The fire in some areas was extremely close to the population and in fact, the dissaster took one fireman's life.
Many are the factors that can cause a wildfire I just mention one that has to do with non intentional fire, with accidents.
Now think of the idea of someone starting a fire just for fun. Pyromaniacs burning a forest only for the pleasure. That is even worse!

Take a look at the picture. Check the panorama and reflect upon the image. Can you imagine someone enjoying looking at this? How is it having fun with this? Or is it that that person is mocking at nature, mocking at the people whose houses are about to be destroyed because of the fire, or mocking at the firemen that give their lives to stop the dissaster?
Considers this, buts most importantly, try to do something about it.

  1. “Arson”. “Arsonist”. Those are words I have learned during 2013!! New English words for a terrible attack to nature.
I wonder if those people who lit fire are really well – aware of the consequences of their acts. What is the illusion that comes to their minds? Do they think that they are doing well? Do they try to enrich the soil, perhaps, as it is said?? There are silly, awful people all around the world, aren’t there??

  2. WOW, I didn´t have the opportunity to see any picture about this terrible incident that took place in SL. As Adela says, when human beings do STUPID things like this, are they aware of the damage they are causing? Are they aware of the fact that an incident like this can take many people´s lives? I don´t think so. RULES exist for a specific reason. But as we are human beings, and we live in country in which you can do whatever you want, WE ALWAYS BREAK THE RULES. It makes us feel superior and powerful. But scarcely any time do we stop to think and reflect upon the great disaster we might be producing.

  3. It really makes me sad to see what used to be green spaces in the summer, turning black because of the fires.

I think one way of preventing these unconscious actions is to start raising awareness about the importance of the issue at schools. If we teach our children to respect, take care, and love nature, they will grow up with the idea that we should be really thankful for all green spaces we have. These sad scenes could be also avoided if authorities took actions against who is to blame. Once some people are in jail because of the fire, I'm sure other people will think about it twice before doing something like this.

  4. I think that you are absolutely right, Valeria! In fact, I don't see the point of those Pyromaniacs on setting fire just on purpose.
Nature is wise and it has proved that whenever men do something that damages it, later on, there are consequences and repercussions. It is said that nature never forgives and, in a way or another, I reckon it is right not to do so, since we, human beings, seem not to take care of the wonderful things that sorround us!
